Sassy Girl

Abigail has been in Kindergarten for a week and two days now.  She has come home with a new story every day.  It is hilarious the things she comes up with.  Here's some examples:   She has been telling us that she has no friends, even though she has talked about two different girls (Olivia and Ava) because they go to the same After School Program that she does.  One day this week, she said that she didn't play with anyone that day because ALL of the girls... were playing with BOYS!   We asked if that was the only reason she didn't play with anyone and she said yes.  She played by herself.  I asked if she was happy playing by herself and she said Yes.  Not much I can say to that.  :)  Then the next day, she came home happily telling me that she had made a friend!!  I asked who.  She said OLIVIA!!!  I laughed and told her that I thought Olivia was already her friend.  She said - well, she played with me today on the playground and I even played with a BOY.  We chased him

Daddy Daughter Fun Day #3 - Tennessee Aquarium

Image
The last day of Daddy Daughter Fun Days was spent at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga.   Lunch was at Luigi's in downtown Chattanooga where Abigail got a cheese pizza.     They then went to the Aquarium where they saw penguins, turtles, butterflies, birds, and so many fish!   They also saw the IMAX movie while at the Aquarium. Time for another treat - Ben & Jerry's! Abigail was so exhausted on the way home.

Daddy Daughter Fun Day #2 - Birmingham Zoo

Daddy Daughter Fun Day #2 was a trip to the Birmingham Zoo. First stop was Johnny's in Homewood for lunch.   Abigail loved the Zoo.  She feed the giraffes, saw the baby animals ("The Baby Bunch"), feed the lorikeets, rode the train, played on the splash pad, went to the children's petting zoo, and rode the carousel.       After the Zoo, they went by Steel City Pops to get a sweet treat.  Abigail's favorite is Buttermilk!

Daddy Daughter Fun Day #1 - AirWalk and McWane Center

The three days leading up to the start of Kindergarten this week were deemed - Daddy Daughter Fun Days.  Dustin kept Abigail Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and they had a blast. Monday: AirWalk - 9-10 every morning is for children 6 years and younger.  Abigail loved it!   After AirWalk, they went to Big Bad Breakfast to eat.  Abigail ordered the Little Bad Breakfast.  Here was her plate: They visited Krispy Kreme and got hot, fresh doughnuts.   Then they went to the McWane Center.  They had so much fun.  She was happy to make the bubbles because she wasn't able to play in the bubbles during their daycare field trip in December.

Kindergarten Orientation

We had kindergarten orientation tonight and I was able to meet Abigail's teacher for the first time. She was very nice and I think she will be a great teacher for Abigail this year. She told us afterwards that she was really excited to have Abigail in her class because on Friday at kindergarten camp, Abigail had such good manners and was really smart! Thanks to Ms. Chandra for instilling the manners in her at BeKare. I know they are in for a good year this year.

Last Day at BeKare ... Kindergarten Camp at Margaret

Abigail's last day at BeKare Child Development Center was yesterday.  She had been there since she was 9 months old (August 2009).  BeKare has been a huge part of our lives and I am so happy that I found them when I was looking for a daycare.  I had been in other daycare centers and didn't like them at all.  But when I visited BeKare, I knew I had found someplace special.  I didn't know at first just how special it is.  The entire staff at BeKare are such a great addition to our family -- because that's what they feel like ... family.  From day one, I never felt uneasy leaving Abigail with Mrs. Leah in the infant class -- even though Mrs. Leah didn't know what to do when I said Abigail had no schedule whatsoever, so, good luck!!  :)  We are grateful to have found them when we were looking for a place to leave Abigail.  I will be forever indebted to them for all they have done for us.  We love them all and hope we keep in touch!! Her last day of daycare was also
