Surgery and Recovery ...

February 24, 2010

Abigail's surgery was on Wednesday, February 10, 2010. We had to be there at 7:00 am and she was taken back for the surgery around 9:00 am. At around 9:20 am, she was out of the surgery. Dr. Hill put in tubes, took out her adenoids, and did the reflux test by looking down her esophagus and then taking a biopsy. She was back with us soon thereafter and after recovering some, we took her home. We were told that she should get over the anesthesia within 2-3 hours ... well, almost 12 hours later, she finally woke up fully - at 8:30 that night.

We found out the following Monday that she didn't have reflux and the nurse said that her adenoids could have been causing those problems. She also had an ear infection when they did the surgery and she is just now getting over that. We had to get the antibiotic ear drops to get rid of it.

This weekend she finally started sleeping regularly again. For her, this means only waking up one or two times per night. So, hopefully she is going to keep getting better and better. She is finally playing all the time and eating a ton. Daycare has even seen the change in her.

I just wanted to update everyone on how she has been since the surgery. This was great and I hope she continues getting better!!
