Surgery and Recovery ...

February 24, 2010 Abigail's surgery was on Wednesday, February 10, 2010. We had to be there at 7:00 am and she was taken back for the surgery around 9:00 am. At around 9:20 am, she was out of the surgery. Dr. Hill put in tubes, took out her adenoids, and did the reflux test by looking down her esophagus and then taking a biopsy. She was back with us soon thereafter and after recovering some, we took her home. We were told that she should get over the anesthesia within 2-3 hours ... well, almost 12 hours later, she finally woke up fully - at 8:30 that night. We found out the following Monday that she didn't have reflux and the nurse said that her adenoids could have been causing those problems. She also had an ear infection when they did the surgery and she is just now getting over that. We had to get the antibiotic ear drops to get rid of it. This weekend she finally started sleeping regularly again. For her, this means only waking up one or two times per night. So, ho...

Surgery ...

January 28, 2010 Af ter weeks of problems with ear infections, etc., we finally were referred to an ENT to see about getting tubes for Abigail. Her appointment was this past Tuesday afternoon. Abigail first had a hearing test. The audiologist said that her hearing was normal for her age group, but she found that she had fluid behind her right ear drum. Next we went back to the ENT and the Nurse Practitioner said that the fluid was yellowed, which meant it had been in there for a while. Which would also explain why Abigail is always digging in that ear like it bothers her. When the doctor saw her, he said that first he recommended tubes - usually they recommend it after having 3 in 6 months - Abigail has had 5 in 6 months, with 3 in the last 6 weeks. Next he said that he thought her adenoids were too big. So, while he is doing the tube surgery, he is going to check her adenoids and possibly take those out. Finally, after looking up her nose, he said that he thought she had silent ...

January 4, 2010 Here are some updated pictures of Abigail. Also, I am posting a video of Abigail dancing with her dancing elephant - it dances and sings "Sugar Pie Honey Bunch". Some other updates - Abigail has 2 more teeth coming in. One on the top and one on the bottom ... that makes 10 teeth!! We all had a great Christmas. I will try to post some Christmas and Birthday Party pictures soon. Abigail is trying to talk. She tries to repeat what you say. She will be talking soon!! She has been doing much better since switching to Soy Milk. I am so glad that we finally figured that one out. She is a much happier baby - back to her old self. She loves to "help" you around the house, but her "helping" is usually taking out stuff that you've already put up. She tries to take the dirty dishes out of the dishwasher or the clean, folded clothes out of the hamper. Thanks to everyone for sharing Abigail's journey with us. I will post the Christma...

Growing up ...

December 18, 2009 Abigail's birthday party was on Sunday, November 22. She had a really great time and received a lot of great gifts from family members. There were 55 people in attendance! Thanks to those who could make it. Abigail moved up at daycare to the Toddler class. She was supposed to 'transition' during the last week of November, but when they tried to move her back to the Infant class on Monday, she cried until they moved her back. So, she was officially in the Toddler class on Monday, Nov. 30th - no visiting for her. Also, Abigail now has 2 molar teeth coming through. You can see one that has actually come through and the other one is just under the gums. That will make 3 teeth on top and 5 on the bottom! Finally, Abigail has been taken off of regular cow's milk. She is apparently lactose intolerant in regards to milk. Right now, we have only taken her off of milk and moved to soy milk. She is going to be trying that this weekend. She had been hav...

1 YEAR OLD!!!!!

Image
November 17, 2009 Abigail Kait is officially 1 year old!! I can't believe it has already been a year. Time has certainly flown by. She has learned so much stuff and is so silly. She is a little girl who is full of laughs and love. Look at how much she has grown... Here is a video especially for Abigail. It's Moose A. Moose singing Today is Your Birthday! Here is the updated list of stuff she is doing now, starting with her doctor's appointment update: Abigail's 1 year check up was today. She weighs 20 pounds, 4 ounces which was only in the 30th percentile for her weight this time, but the doctor said that was probably because she has been walking for 3 months. Her height is 30 inches - which is the 80th percentile and her head circumference is 17 1/2 which was in the 50th percentile. Abigail now dances. Anytime she hears music, she will start off nodding her head and then sometimes she starts dancing. She actually started moving more to dance just today. :o)...

11 months old!!!

October 22, 2009 Okay - I am a little late posting her 11 month update and I apologize. :0) Here you go!! Abigail walks everywhere. She hardly crawls anymore. She will run and stop and then turn around and look at you to see if you are chasing her. If you are, she laughs and takes off running again. Abigail is finally waving when you ask her to. She will wave hello and goodbye. Abigail has been learning and doing a lot at daycare. They do "art" almost every day. They have painted (w/ paintbrushes and fingers), glued feathers to ducks, used cotton balls dipped in white paint to make "clouds", and they do scribble art a lot (just scribbling on a piece of paper). Abigail is now drinking all of her formula/water/etc. at day care in a sippy cup! She is getting ready to get rid of her bottle!! Halloween is coming up and this will be Abigail's First! Since it's on a Saturday, we will be in Geraldine celebrating. Hope we will see you!! Her First Birthday ...
