Update from ENT

March 25, 2010 I just realized that I never posted the update from Abigail's ENT check-up appointment. The appointment was on Friday, March 12th. It was a very quick appointment. The Nurse Practitioner saw her and said that her tubes were exactly where they were supposed to be. Then we went back to the Audiologist and she checked to make sure the sound waves were going through the tubes like they are supposed to. Everything was great! We can really tell a difference in her talking too. She says a lot more and even does a lot of sign language to go along with it. Just yesterday, she said "Bubble" for the first time and she will put a phone to her ear and act like she talking on it. She is learning so quickly.

15 Month Check-Up

March 5, 2010 Abigail had her 15 month check-up today. She is doing great and a healthy little girl (finally!). Other than still not sleeping well and having a cold, she was doing great. The doctor seems to think the not sleeping well is from possibly getting a tooth. We'll see. Abigail weighed 22 lbs, 4 ozs. (40th percentile) and was 31 inches tall (60th percentile). Some things Abigail is doing now: She is talking a lot now. She says: Hey/Hi, Bye, Ball, Uh-Oh, Thank You, Mommy, Daddy, Book, More, and she will call the Kitty. She loves to look at books. She doesn't particularly want you to read them to her because she can't sit still that long, but she loves to look at them. She loves to dance. Her daycare teachers said that she will climb the stairs of their climbing structure in the classroom and stand on the platform ("her stage") and dance like crazy. :o) I still need to post pictures from Abigail's birthday party and I will try to post some recen...

Surgery and Recovery ...

February 24, 2010 Abigail's surgery was on Wednesday, February 10, 2010. We had to be there at 7:00 am and she was taken back for the surgery around 9:00 am. At around 9:20 am, she was out of the surgery. Dr. Hill put in tubes, took out her adenoids, and did the reflux test by looking down her esophagus and then taking a biopsy. She was back with us soon thereafter and after recovering some, we took her home. We were told that she should get over the anesthesia within 2-3 hours ... well, almost 12 hours later, she finally woke up fully - at 8:30 that night. We found out the following Monday that she didn't have reflux and the nurse said that her adenoids could have been causing those problems. She also had an ear infection when they did the surgery and she is just now getting over that. We had to get the antibiotic ear drops to get rid of it. This weekend she finally started sleeping regularly again. For her, this means only waking up one or two times per night. So, ho...

Surgery ...

January 28, 2010 Af ter weeks of problems with ear infections, etc., we finally were referred to an ENT to see about getting tubes for Abigail. Her appointment was this past Tuesday afternoon. Abigail first had a hearing test. The audiologist said that her hearing was normal for her age group, but she found that she had fluid behind her right ear drum. Next we went back to the ENT and the Nurse Practitioner said that the fluid was yellowed, which meant it had been in there for a while. Which would also explain why Abigail is always digging in that ear like it bothers her. When the doctor saw her, he said that first he recommended tubes - usually they recommend it after having 3 in 6 months - Abigail has had 5 in 6 months, with 3 in the last 6 weeks. Next he said that he thought her adenoids were too big. So, while he is doing the tube surgery, he is going to check her adenoids and possibly take those out. Finally, after looking up her nose, he said that he thought she had silent ...

New Pictures and Video ...

January 4, 2010 Here are some updated pictures of Abigail. Also, I am posting a video of Abigail dancing with her dancing elephant - it dances and sings "Sugar Pie Honey Bunch". Some other updates - Abigail has 2 more teeth coming in. One on the top and one on the bottom ... that makes 10 teeth!! We all had a great Christmas. I will try to post some Christmas and Birthday Party pictures soon. Abigail is trying to talk. She tries to repeat what you say. She will be talking soon!! She has been doing much better since switching to Soy Milk. I am so glad that we finally figured that one out. She is a much happier baby - back to her old self. She loves to "help" you around the house, but her "helping" is usually taking out stuff that you've already put up. She tries to take the dirty dishes out of the dishwasher or the clean, folded clothes out of the hamper. Thanks to everyone for sharing Abigail's journey with us. I will post the Christma...
