January 28, 2010 Af ter weeks of problems with ear infections, etc., we finally were referred to an ENT to see about getting tubes for Abigail. Her appointment was this past Tuesday afternoon. Abigail first had a hearing test. The audiologist said that her hearing was normal for her age group, but she found that she had fluid behind her right ear drum. Next we went back to the ENT and the Nurse Practitioner said that the fluid was yellowed, which meant it had been in there for a while. Which would also explain why Abigail is always digging in that ear like it bothers her. When the doctor saw her, he said that first he recommended tubes - usually they recommend it after having 3 in 6 months - Abigail has had 5 in 6 months, with 3 in the last 6 weeks. Next he said that he thought her adenoids were too big. So, while he is doing the tube surgery, he is going to check her adenoids and possibly take those out.
